Three cycling routes to discover Caimari and its surroundings

Petit Caimari • Feb 07, 2023

If you are looking for a place to enjoy some of the best cycling routes in Europe, Mallorca is the perfect place for you. Especially, our village of Caimari, in the north of the island; a real gem for cyclists.

Located at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains, Caimari offers a wide variety of routes, from steep climbs to flat routes with breathtaking views. In addition, Mallorca's warm and sunny climate makes it an ideal destination for cyclotourism all year round.

Here are some of the best road routes that start from this town, and get ready to discover landscapes that will leave you speechless!

Road Route: Caimari - Lluc - Pollença - Caimari

This circular route, of moderate difficulty, represents an exciting adventure that covers 48.67 km and has a positive difference in altitude of 952 m. This itinerary is perfect for cyclists with a little experience and for those who are looking to fall in love with spectacular landscapes, history and culture.

The route starts in our village of Caimari, where you can contemplate the beautiful olive groves and taste their high quality olive oil. A few meters from the start, get ready to start the ascent to the monastery of Lluc.

Once you reach Lluc, make a stop, recharge your batteries and discover its magic and authentic peace. The 'Santuari de Lluc' is the spiritual center by excellence of Mallorca and a meeting point for pilgrims.

To continue the route, head towards Pollença while enjoying the descent. Here you can stop and taste the delicious Mallorcan food in the many bars and restaurants of the town. For example: U Plaça, right on the main square.

Finally, follow the route until you reach Caimari again. This flatter section offers you the opportunity to explore the countryside and catch your breath before the end of the ride.

In about 4 hours and 45 minutes, approximately, you will experience a route that you will surely want to repeat very soon.

Road route: Serra de Tramuntana: Caimari - Lloseta - Raiguer - Bunyola - Coll d'Honor - Orient - Coll de Tofla - Lloseta - Caimari

If your thing is to discover natural landscapes of those that remain etched in the retina and you are in good physical shape, take note. This is one of the most popular circular routes by road bike in the Sierra de Tramuntana. The total distance is approximately 64 km.

Start the route in Caimari and follow the signs to Lloseta. After passing this charming inland village, follow the signs to Binissalem. On the way, you can enjoy the region of Es Raiguer, full of cypresses and olive trees. Continue the route passing Consell and Santa María del Camí.

Once you reach Santa Maria, head towards the quiet village of Bunyola and marvel at its panoramic views. The next point of interest you should head towards is the Coll d'Honor, a mountain pass located on the slopes of the Alfabia mountain range. From there, continue towards Orient. If you stop in this little village, don't forget to experience the nature and slowliving typical of Orient's residents.

The next stop is the Coll de Tofla, a hill known for its opposing views. You can see, on one side, the Pla de Mallorca and, on the other, the Sierra de Tramuntana. From there, return to Lloseta to enjoy a good snack before returning to Caimari. This trip will take you through some of the most amazing places in Mallorca.

Without a doubt, this route is an excellent option for cyclists looking for a challenge of approximately 3 hours among the natural beauty of the island.

Mountain Bike Route: Caimari - Lluc - Caimari

Unlike the two previous ones, this route is for mountain biking. It is an attractive mountain bike adventure of about 23 km that runs through Caimari - Lluc - Caimari. The difficulty is moderate and the positive difference in altitude is 875 meters, which is the perfect challenge for cyclists or amateurs who are in good physical shape.

The route starts in Caimari, the magical enclave for cycling tourism. From there, you have to climb up the Camí Vell until you reach a somewhat technical descent. Make this descent with caution and go up again, this time through Can Gallet. Now you only have to go down the other side until you reach the famous Lluc Monastery. During this tour you will experience all kinds of sensations: the charm of the natural environment, the difficulty of the technical trails and demanding climbs, and the adrenaline of the descents!

Finally, you return to Caimari through the Camí Vell. Along this route, in almost four hours, you can explore the most authentic trails while breathing fresh air.
